Privacy policy

Maximus is made by Ethosoft Ltd, who is responsible for the data on this page. The app has no analytics, no tracking and no account. It does not read the content of your windows. This page lists every time the app goes online, and what we keep.

When you buy

Payments go through Link, Stripe's checkout. Link is our reseller: it processes your payment and keeps your payment details. See the Link privacy policy. From Stripe we receive your email address and the order and payment numbers. We never see your card details.

Your license

Our license server keeps your email address, your license key and the order and payment numbers. For each Mac you activate, it keeps:

The app sends the license key and the activation to our server when you activate, about once a week to check the license, and when you deactivate. The server runs on Amazon Web Services and the data is in a MongoDB Atlas database. We keep it while the license exists, so you can get your key again. Email us and we delete it.

Emails

We email your license key after you buy, and again when you ask for it on the "get your key" page. Amazon SES sends these emails for us. We do not add you to a mailing list. If you email support, we keep your email to answer it.

Update checks

About once a day, the app downloads a small update list from this web site. Like any web request, this shows our server your IP address and the app version. We use this only to deliver updates.

Data on your Mac

The app keeps its settings and the trial start date on your Mac, and your license key in your Mac's keychain. The debug log is off by default. If you turn it on, it stays on your Mac and holds app names, window sizes and click positions, but no window content. It leaves your Mac only if you send it to us.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@ethosoft.net. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or the data protection authority where you live.
